This unit has been expanded. So, make sure and get all the printables here.
Here is what we’ve been doing this week. Let us know what you think. We hope by providing these materials to you free of charge, it will make your life easier!
Lesson Plan: The lesson plan includes all the lessons for the week, as well as optional ideas. Items following the lesson plan are just the printables or links to websites we used to teach these plans. (Please note: On top of our lesson plan we are reading books daily that relate to our theme.)
Memory Verse: This memory card is for daily use during our calendar time. You can learn more about calendar time at 1+1+1=1 or Homeschool Creations. Our weekly devotional is an object lesson that will help your child apply the meaning of the verse to them.
Day 1: Stars
Big Dipper Dot to Dot- This activity will combine letter recognition and beginning writing. We found it here on Making Learning Fun.
Shape Constellations- This activity will help your child with shapes and recognition.
Space Pretend Play- Enjoy pretending with your kiddo that your an astronaut on his way to the moon, or that your just blasting through space!
Day 2: Moon
Moon Magnet Page – This activity will reinforce letter recognition. You can also find this at Making Learning Fun.
Moon Clip Cards- This activity will work on your child’s beginning counting skills, and their number recognition. The clothespin clipping also works on fine motor skills.
Moon Sequence Cards-Have fun learning about the phases of the moon with these sequence cards. It will teach your kiddos about why the moon gets bigger and smaller during the month, and will introduce natural science concepts.
Day 3: Planets
Planet Spelling Puzzle- This puzzle introduces spelling concepts and will help your child focus on letters and their sounds.
Planet Size Sorting- This activity will help your child pay attention to an objects size and sort them according to those characteristics. (FYI: We’ve included Pluto in our printables since there is still a debate to whether or not it should be considered a dwarf, according to my brother who is an astrophysicist. We figured you can make the choice for your family.)
Solar System Craft- A fun activity to help your child better visualize the solar system, and planetary order. Plus they get to use glue, and that always sells a lesson for E!
Planet Shadow Match- Will help your child work on shape recognition and matching.
We hope you enjoy these lesson plans and please let us know if you have any issues with downloading or using the items provided.
Special thanks to Just So Scrappy for some of the graphics.
