Do Chia Seeds Go Bad?

The chia plant has been around for centuries now, and historical evidence points at it having originated from far flung places such as Guatemala and Mexico. The most important part of this plant is the seed, which can be consumed whole or ground. Said seeds contain deep wells of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins as well as fiber and come in as a component of food or drink.

If you are looking for seeds that stick around for the longest time, start at the point of purchase. Always buy your seeds in the temperature-regulated sections of your local store (think freezers and refrigerators). Never keep your supply near water or moisture and always keep your containers very tightly sealed.

What Does Ginseng Taste Like?

One of the reasons why I hate getting old is because almost every day, it feels like I don’t have any energy at all– even when I have already taken 8 hours of sleep. I feel drained, tired, and I find it very difficult to drag myself through the day, only to crash on the couch in the evening. This is when a friend suggested that I should give ginseng supplements a try, and this sparked my curiosity! So, I decided to check it out, and here’s my experience using it. But first of all, what does it taste like?

What Does It Taste Like?

From what I’m taking is the supplement, there isn’t any taste at all. However, fresh ginseng is different. When you first put it in your mouth, you’ll sense the bitterness of ginseng, but not too bitter. Also, it’s important to note that there’s an aftertaste that lingers in your mouth the whole day too. Then, there’s also the earthy sweetness, almost similar but not the same as carrots. So, without further ado, here are some of the best pumpkin recipes for you to try!

1. Pumpkin Bars

3. Pumpkin Muffins with a Little Bit of Feta

This is a perfect breakfast snack-on-the-go for those who are health conscious, but would still want to eat something tasty and would keep them full until it’s time for lunch.

– 2 tbsp olive oil
– 1 tbsp butter (unsalted)
– 2 cups pumpkin (diced)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 2 tbsp parsley (chopped)
– 1 handful of baby spinach (chopped)
– 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
– 3 tbsp sunflower seed kernels
– 2 tsp whole-grain mustard
– 4 tbsp condensed milk
– 1/2 cup feta (diced)
– 3/4 milk
– 2 cups of flour
– 2 tsp baking soda
– 2 tsp baking powder
– 1 tbsp white vinegar

1. Preheat the oven to 405F as you sprinkle some olive oil, salt, and pepper over the squash. Put it in the baking pan and let it bake for about 15-25 minutes. Set aside as you allow it to cool.
2. Combine 2/3 of feta, spinach, sunflower seeds, parsley, Parmesan, and mustard in a mixing bowl. Add in some milk together with the 2/3 of the baked squash.
3. Sift the flour, baking powder, and baking soda onto the remaining squash mix, and sprinkle a generous amount of pepper, and a pinch of salt. Gently fold until the batter comes together.
4. Scoop the mixture and transfer into the prepared pan. Bake for around 30-35 minutes.

4. Pumpkin Lasagna

If you’re looking for a comfort food, nothing tastes better than freshly baked lasagna. However, you would still want to ensure that it’s healthy and here’s how you can do just that.

– 2 cups lean ground turkey
– 2 cups pumpkin, pureed
-1 onion, chopped
– 1 cup low fat ricotta
– 1 zucchini, cubed
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 1 cup of mushrooms, chopped
– 1 tbsp of olive oil
– 1 lb lasagna noodles, cooked
– 1/2 cup low-fat mozzarella cheese
– Salt and pepper to taste

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Saute minced garlic, onions, and mushrooms with olive oil. When the onion becomes translucent, add the ground turkey and continue cooking.
3. Combine ricotta cheese and pumpkin puree.
4. Place a layer of lasagna noodles in an 8×8 pan, then spread the pumpkin mixture. Top with turkey and repeat.
5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella on top and bake for about 20 minutes.
